Seeing that May is the month of birthdays for lots of women in the Ibrahim Clan and it's also MOTHER's DAY month... I thought this is a good 'copy and paste' entry... I got it off Syma and I absolutely agree and I think it's freaking clever!!! ;p A definite insight into the female brain ;p

Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree.
Most men do not want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the grounds that are not as good, but easy.
The apples at the top think something is wrong with them. When in reality they are amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.
Now men . . .
Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it is up to women to stomp the shit out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with them.

I find this a bit contradicting saja.. How i interpret it lah..
ok first point
* Because most men don't take the good ones but choose the easy ones, does that mean in reality the easy ones are not the same as the top ones? i.e not amazing in reality?
* Are the best ones only at the top of the tree? So how abt the middle section that doesn't drop? Them in reality are not amazing and also not easy?
* How is it possible that the first man that climbs all the way to the top would be the most righteous dude? Wouldn't the wait be all in vain? And wouldn't there be a lot of apples as well at the top? Since he has the selection, isn't that bad that he plucks one and leave the rest still waiting?
Atu saja lah, being analytical this week i am, ntah kenapa LoL!!
But the guy part i think ngam, more or less in this particular generation, not during our parent's generation I believe.

I see it as being clear. The text does not mean that the lower apples are not amazing, just that sometimes, when you do not reach up higher, you are missing out on something that is much juicier and to your liking! like love, picking apple is a 'risk'! :P
As i see it, picikinng just one apple at the top of the treee leaving manay waiting is not a problem. Meaning, you can only eat and handle one woman at a time. There are times, when a relationship doesnt work, hence, get ready to do more picking.

Hmmm.... MY thought on this is that it (the piece of writing) is ofcourse contradicting as spunk boy said, yet can also be seen as simply as how Ka Mell sees it.
It truly is how you look at things innit..?
Point being, when the apple is picked by the right guy, and the grape has been turned into wine, it's all good.
But the process of getting there, and even once you are already there is not all hunky dorily good... it needs lots of patience, compromise, tears, laughter, joy and sadness etc etc... What do I know ey? sigh..
