complementary or alternative

we had a wee discussion today whether one should refer the likes of reflexology, accupunture, homeopathy as complementary or alternative...

for a long time its been referred to as alternative, tho now, as people are becoming more aware of it (or at least they should be), the general opinion is to call it complementary.

it makes sense to do so as its not an alternative to ur western medicine... you've got to incorporate it together, to have the most effect. seeing that complementary medicine is all about prevention and not cure...

it was interesting to me to realise that i personally use quite a lot of complementary medicine. out of the five that my group discussed today (reiki, homeopathy, reflex, aromatherapy and accupunture), the only one that i didn't properly understand was reiki... never had it done to me until yesterday when Julia (my group mate) did it on me (she is a practitioiner - she is a qualified reiki 2 for three years now)...

my initial thought to it all was a whole lot of BULL ;p she started by rubbing her palms together and drawing symbols in the air, and then terus put her hand a few inches above my right shoulder (as my sisters should know, my shoulders are forever tensed!) at the same time chanting words to herself... and just like that, i felt this warmth generating on my right shoulder... macam ada heat therapy!!! and it was amazing!!!

come night time, (this was at least 8 hours later) my shoulder was still lighter.. and relaxed.. unfortunately now, im feeling kinda imbalanced because my left shoulder is still tensed up... sigh... it was so relaxing to knw it worked!!! i wonder if there are any reiki practitioners in brunei. i would love to have a whole body session and see what its like!!! i wont do it here, because it would cost a whole lot and cause unnecessary further damage to my account ;p

last night i urut-ed my kaki, gave myself a mini reflex.. but it just isnt the same when you do it on urself and having someone else do it to you.. sigh...

i am in need of a whole body massage.. either aromatheraphy greasy massage, or your chinese click click massage.. my back is aching like hell.. and my whole body is just tired!!! i cant wait to go back and relax and have urut sessions!!! ahhhh.. i can just imagine myself sleeping thru it! =)

talking of which.. iv got FIVE obstacles ahead of me before going home to brunei for summer!!!
endocrine block, ssc on molecular mechanism of carconogenesis (before you say anything, i did not choose this ssc!), g.i block, (then i have 2 weeks for easter, which i should spend wisely to revise 6 blocks!!!) exams, ssc on physics in medicine.. and insya allah balik 4th june (given that i pass my exams!!! kalau inda its 4th JULY. pray for me people!!!)!!! whee!!! i cant wait!!! iski saya!!! DONT ruin it by saying its still a far way away!!! whee!!!
